Concept EverythinGBirds is a website that has been established by a bird lover for use by the growing number of bird lovers living in or planning to visit Britain. The aim is to develop a website that will become the 'portal' into the fascinating world of birds and birding in Britain--a first port of call for everyone interested in birds in Britain - beginner to expert. In order to make it more useful and to extend its readership, the users of the website are invited to comment on its design and content by giving feedback and making suggestions to add to and improve the site. Background When I first got interested in bird watching and photography I found that I spent hours surfing the net to find information about where I could watch birds; the equipment and clothing that I needed; books; field guides; DVDs; scopes; tripods; binoculars; cameras; lenses; bird food; bird feeders; clubs & societies, holidays, accommodation and so on. Whilst there were many interesting and fascinating websites there did not seem to be one place that I could go to find out whatever I needed for bird watching in Britain and then be able to go straight to whatever I wanted to find out more, without doing further searches on search engines. This was so frustrating for someone with a very busy life and a burning desire just to get out there watching and photographing birds! Challenge I'm sure there are many more people out there just like me. So the challenge was to combine my interests in computing, writing and birding and see if I could develop the website that I had in mind. I have given it a go and EverythinGBirds is the result. It is 'work in progress', which I intend to continually improve, extend and update. Clear and Simple On EverythinGBirds the aim is for you to find all the important information that you need to help you start and then continue to enjoy bird watching in Britain. The information is explained clearly and classified into easy to navigate pages. The 'one-click' links on each page transport you to other websites that I have used where you can find out even more on that topic. When you have finished you simply use your 'back' button to return to EverythinGBirds. Better still, put this homepage in your 'favourites' or make it your 'start page' and you will always be one click away from the birding links that you need! Site Development--Get Involved The site is very much at the early stages of development but I hope will grow and improve rapidly with your help. I really need you to let me have your comments and suggestions on what you would like to see on the site and to provide me with proposals for books, equipment and website links that are not yet on EverythinGBirds. Please click on the link at the bottom of each page to email me your comments. Do use it to help me make this site more useful for new or experienced British bird lovers, just like ourselves. I am doing this single-handed as an interest and don't have vast resources and people to support me. It is a labour of love, so forgive me whilst I try to get things right. However I do hope that you enjoy the site and find it helpful. I genuinely want it to be something that inspires people to take up and continue to develop birding and to support birds, wildlife, the environment and, of course, the protection and sustainability of all species--including our own! Use the Ads on the right The ads on each page will link you to items related to the page you are reading. Clicking on these links will give me some pennies towards the cost of maintaining the site.
